People come for counselling for many reasons. You may be having problems in your relationship, family or job. You may be feeling anxious, depressed, unmotivated, or have recently experienced some sort of loss or trauma. You may have feelings or experiences from your past that you have shut away that are getting in the way and creating sadness and emotional distance. Counselling can help you make sense of your difficult feelings and issues and give you the support so you can work through them.
You will be given space to talk about your worries by a qualified and experienced counsellor who will not judge you and work at your pace.
The process will enable you to understand yourself or a situation supporting you towards making positive changes and choices that will increase your confidence and self-esteem. It will be your journey and one you will benefit from but you will not be doing it alone as you will be supported every step of the way.
You will be able to have short-term or long-term counselling. I provide counselling for adults and children/young people and the session last for 45 to 60 minutes.
Flexible appointment times are available and I also provide limited spaces on Saturday and evening sessions.
Skype counselling is particularly useful for clients who are unable to travel or have unpredictable work patterns.
I also offer some reduced rates but these are limited to those who are students and the low waged
The way that I work
The core model that I use in my counselling is called relational; this is the model that I was trained in. As my practice has developed, I've become integrative which means it draws on a number of theories. Our relationship is at the heart of my approach as well as using Person Centred and Psychodynamic concepts. Put simply, I aim to be genuine, non-judgemental and empathic in the way that I work with you, whilst thinking about how the past might be influencing the present, and thinking about our relationship with each other. By using an integrative approach I can adapt our work to best meet your need.
